The project combines ambitions for significant new development with a transformation of the existing town, aiming to create a place that actively supports climate resilience, ecological restoration, improved water management, and long-term social and economic value.
Cambourne is entering a new phase of growth. Originally conceived through a landscape-led masterplan by Terry Farrell in 1996, the town is now poised to evolve into a regionally significant, sustainable community - catalysed by the arrival of East West Rail and a renewed regional focus on good growth.
With a nature-led and regenerative approach, the spatial framework builds on Cambourne’s unique wooded clayland landscape and existing community structure. The aim is to shape a forward-looking plan that enhances the quality of life for both current and future residents, while unlocking the town’s full potential as a vibrant and sustainable 21st-century settlement.
Third Nature is excited to mark the beginning of our work in the UK with this project. We see strong potential in the British market, where we can bring our Copenhagen-based nature-led solutions into use to support a more resilient future.
